“Christmas Time is just right around the corner”. This is the statement I frequently heard from my mother when I was a young child; anticipating the coming of old Santa Claus.

The gleeful anticipation and hopeful excitement of knowing Santa Claus would be coming to my house soon consumed my joyful emotions as a very young child. Knowing that he would come to my house on Christmas Eve filled my young imagination with joyous anticipation and extreme excitement.

On Christmas Eve, my mother always left a piece of homemade apple pie for Santa Claus on the mantle of the fireplace. Seeing it gone the next morning only strengthened my young imagination that there actually was a Santa Claus. The priceless and beaming smile of a child’s face on Christmas morning only reflects both the joy and wonder of the Christmas Season.
