YES, IT IS COLD!!
August 8, 2024

Greetings from the frozen staff of “followURtrends.com”.

We live in the South. And yes, it is by choice. Normally, during the year, the clothing worn is usually very casual and comfortable; short sleeve shirts, shorts, and tee-shirts. Only a few months during a normal year, long sleeves and warm coats are required to manage the cold weather; only what we consider as “winter”.

I recently woke up one morning and the temperature was ten(10) degrees Fahrenheit with a windchill factor of a NEGATIVE two(2) degrees Fahrenheit. I readily realized that I did not have enough warm clothes to put on “this little body” of mine to stay sufficiently warm. This has been the third day of these low temperatures and yes, people in the colder areas of the United States are much more adapt to both the longer winter months and the colder temperatures. The only fair and concise way to describe our suffering from the colder temperature is from the “ole sayings “ the old folks used to say is that, it is “BUTT-FREEZING COLD”.

The new year of 2024 is now here and I realize many people have made conscious resolutions to improve their present quality of life. I wish to share some information for those energetic individuals who have planned to start a jogging/running exercise program this year.

My Beginnings:

In my mid-twenties, I started thinking seriously about an exercise program which would help to get me into a more healthy and athletically-fit posture. After several days of thought, I made the decision to consider running.

Once that decision was made, I did some personal research. During this time, I noticed that a few of my friends had taken up running. I soon discovered a recently published book entitled “The Complete Book on Running” authored by a James F. Fixx. This book became the benchmark for my inspiration to start and continue my jogging/running program. Instead of becoming a “fad”, it has evolved into a “way of life” for me. This is quite an older book, however, it will provide the inspirational values, motivation and much needed information toward pursuing and executing a complete jogging/running program.

Benefits:

As you progress over time, you will begin to see physical changes in your body. Additionally, you may also begin to notice improvements in the status of your mental health.

Other beneficial effects associated with a jogging/running exercise program may include…
increased muscle tone; especially in the quadriceps, calves, hamstrings, glutes
weight loss
reduction of belly-fat
provides a greater caloric burn per minute
improves heart health (cardiovascular)
reduces insulin resistance
Improves the immune system
helps to cope with stress, anxiety, depression

I have continued to maintain a jogging/running routine over several years.

Age is a determining factor regarding my exercise program. As you get older, you may need to consider somewhat abbreviating and/or decreasing either the intensity of your personal exercise routine or the length of your workout.

One of the “cardinal” factors in my personal workouts is that of “listening” to your body while you are exercising. Listen to what your body is telling you. Consider altering your workout or discontinuing your workout if any concerning discomfort or pain presents itself.

Rest is also an essential factor in an exercise program. In using your judgement, determine what will work comfortably for you.

In Closing:

As with any exercise routine which you may choose, please take the time to consult with your physician prior to executing any moderate to vigorous planned activity.

As the year progresses, I encourage you to decide on, develop and pursue those resolutions which hopefully will promote your good health, well being, and sustain your quality of life.

I am hopeful you will visit our “followURtrends.com” website for your Sports and Fitness needs. We truly desire to support you and your family by providing quality products and services.
